Easter

Looking good in my Easter best

Easter was extra special this year because it was Henry's first Easter.  Lee had to work but he was able to finish up in the early afternoon.  My parents and sister went to Williamsburg, VA for the weekend so they stopped by on their way back for lunch.  Henry and I went to church Sunday morning.  After church, Henry napped while I finished getting ready for our late lunch.  Henry woke up just as my family and Lee were arriving.  We enjoyed lunch and then Henry dug into his Easter basket.  He's so special that he had not only one basket but two, thanks to his generous grandparents.  Thank you great Aunts and Aunt Katie for his other Easter goodies. Henry is one spoiled baby!

He had so much fun with his shoes and socks.  When I went to pick him up from the nursery, his shoes and socks were in his bag.  Sorry, Honey.  This boy can't keep his shoes on.  He would rather eat his shoes and socks.

Pulling Up

In the last few days, Henry has learned how to pull up to the standing position.  Once he has pulled himself up to standing, he becomes very proud of himself.  I feel like I say it all the time but I MUST BABY PROOF ASAP.  This child is really now into EVERYTHING!!! My baby is growing up way to quickly.

Standing up in the laundry basket

"Great view! Now, I can see what's inside"

So proud of himself for standing up

"Look at me, one hand.  I'm the man!"

Update: As of today, Henry is now standing up in his crib.  I guess he will start "cruising" soon.

7 Months!

What an incredible 7 months we have experienced with Henry.  Henry
continues to bring joy to our lives everyday.

Size-  No official reports this month but I guess he is about 17
pounds. He is wearing 6 and 9 month outfits. Henry is still wearing
size 2 diapers.

Development- Henry continue to make lot of developmental progress. He
can sit all by himself now, but he would much rather move. Henry is
now a crawler! He scurries around from to room looking for something
to get into. He is very active!!!

He is working on pulling up.  So much so that we had to lower his crib
to prevent him from climbing out...

Personality- Henry is definitely going to be active! His legs never
stop moving. He is constantly kicking them whether he is lying down,
being carried, or sitting. Everyone comments on how much his legs
move. We are going to have our hands full with him when he starts
walking.

Eating- Henry is eating solids at breakfast and dinner. He also has a
snack or two a day. He loves eating and is not a picky eater at all-
thank goodness! He is breastfed or has a bottle 5 times per day.

Sleeping-  Henry continues to sleep well at naps and overnight. Most
days he takes 2 naps that are 1 1/2 hours each. Sometimes he take a
third, short 45 minute nap. At night, he is sleeping about 11- 11 1/2
hours. Bedtime is 7:00-7:30 most nights.

Likes/dislikes- Henry loves being outside riding in  his car, playing
in the grass, or swinging. He loves being on any kind of riding toy.
He loves drawer handles. He enjoys trying to get Lawson's toys.
Basically, he likes anything in the house that is NOT a toy.

He does not like being on his back for a diaper change. He makes
changing his diaper nearly impossible.

Milestones/Firsts- Henry got his bottom two teeth. He was baptized. He
learned to sit all by himself. He attended his first birthday party.
He swung in a swing.

Easter Bunny

I took Henry to see the Easter Bunny at Northgate Mall last Friday.  He was happy to sit on his lap.  Now, next year it might not be so easy.  Henry was fascinated by him and kept looking up at him.  Lila also joined us.  We were able to get some cute pictures.

Happy boy on the Easter Bunny

Trying to get Lila and Henry to look at us and smile

"Hey, is that you, Lila?"

Now, Henry is checking out the Easter Bunny

At least we got both of them to look in our direction

All boy

Henry is definitely all boy.  Now, that he is on the move he is falling and hurting himself a lot!  This past week he had 5 accidents.  His face is a mess with lots of boo boos.  I actually had to cancel his professional pictures that we were going to have this past weekend because his sweet face is so beat up.  He will be wearing a helmet and bubble wrap the week before his pictures.

Update: We just got back from the gym and Henry came home with a bloody nose.  He was playing around the playhouse and ran into it.  He already had a scratch there so I think he just reopened it.  What are we going to do with this baby??????

Clapper

I was feeding Lila the other day and Henry was playing on the floor.  He started clapping over and over again.  It was so cute!  He was so proud of himself.  He hasn't really done it since then so maybe he didn't really know what he was doing.

We have a crawler

Henry has officially gotten the crawl down.  Watch out!  He can now get wherever he wants.  We need to child proof ASAP!

NCAA Tournament

Henry and I had the chance to see UNC play Creighton in the 1st round of the NCAA tournament in Greensboro. Lee was working so he couldn't join us.  We met my sister, dad, mom, aunt, and uncle there.  UNC won and we had a great time!

Slide

Last Thursday, Lee had the day off so we walked up to the playground in our neighborhood with Henry and Lila.  Henry went down the slide for the first time- with dad, of course!  I'm sure we will enjoy visiting the playground more once the babies are more mobile.

Creative Crawl

Henry has found a new way to get himself to where he wants to go.  We call it the "jump crawl".  You would think it would hurt him but it doesn't. I guess he is a tuff guy!

A date at Selwyn

This past weekend we were in Charlotte so Henry was able to experience Selwyn for the first time.  We went to Selwyn to watch the UNC/State game.  The game wasn't the only reason we went to Selwyn.  Henry had a date with Kinlaw, Katie's roommate's niece.   Kinlaw is an older woman, 9 months to be exact.  We joked that Henry wasn't good enough for Kinlaw because he had on his ghetto warm-up suit and she had on a smocked dress.
They will probably date at Chapel Hill

The Head Bob

Check out Henry's new move
So, there is a story behind this new head bob action. Last weekend, Henry and I were playing in his bedroom on the floor.  We do have a rug in his room but there is no padding under the rug.  Henry was sitting up on the floor and I was sitting beside him putting the toys back in the basket.  Henry fell face forward.  It was a very hard fall.  He cried for a few minutes and then seemed fine.  The next day, I started noticing that he was bobbing his head, which I had never seen him do before.  The bobbing continued for a few days and had me nervous that something was wrong with him.  The worrier that I am thought his fall from the weekend had resulted in brain damage.  Lee seemed to think Henry was fine because there were no cuts or bruises.  I called the nurse to get a second opinion.  I explained the fall and head bobbing.  She said that as long as Henry is acting fine then he is fine.  The bobbing has continued and cracks us up.  Henry looks like he is bobbing along to heavy metal music.  When he is on his tummy, I think he bobs his head because he thinks it will help him move forward. He squirms and bobs like Guns n Roses meets the Little Engine that Could...

Mom is starting him early

I try to practice yoga a few times a week and I continued to practice through my pregnancy.  I guess all that yoga rubbed off on Henry because he practices many of the poses, such as, upward dog, bird of paradise, frog, table, child's pose, and most recently downward dog.  Henry is trying to crawl and this is his newest move in an effort to move.  Watch out SYNC, Henry may be joining us in class soon..

Already a true guy...

March Madness is upon us.  Last night, Lee described it as the best time of the year.  Henry is already following in his dad's footsteps in regards to March Madness. He is glued to the TV.  Henry was very focused on the ACC tournament this weekend!

Henry's New Ride

I went to a consignment sale the other day and this is what I came home with.

Henry is a fast learner.  He already learned how to steer.  Watch out!!!!

I think he will have so much fun with his car this spring and summer!

Permanent Reverse

Henry has figured out how to move backwards but not forwards.  Guess where he tends to end up as he scoots backwards????

Escape Artist!

Uh oh....we have an escape artist on our hands.  The other night I woke up to Henry's voice coming from the monitor at 2:20 am.  I looked at the monitor and was shocked by what I saw. Henry had pulled the bumper down and was pulling on up on the crib railing.  I woke up Lee frantically and said, "Help, our baby is trying to escape".  We moved the pack n play into his room and put him in it.  He proceeded to play for another 45 minutes before falling back to sleep.  The next night we made sure to lower the crib.  Its so weird to go in there now and see the crib lowered.  It really means my little man is growing up. So sad!
