An Early Start...
We went out to dinner on Saturday night with some friends. Of course, Henry joined us. He talked or squealed all night. When he wasn't squealing he was trying to drink anyone's beer that he could get his hands on. I think Lee and I are going to have our hands full with Henry!!!

Our Little Tarheel
![]() |
| I'm read coach! Put me in!! |
The game started at 7:00, which is past Henry's 7:30 bedtime. I was a little nervous about how he would do it but there was nothing to worry about because he was a perfect Tarheel!! He sat on Pop Pop's lap and enjoyed every minute. He never cried or got upset. He was a great fan!!!
On Sunday night, we took Henry back to the Dean Dome to watch the Heels play Georgia Tech. He was another super fan that night as well. Henry and I got our picture taken with the Ram. Henry didn't know what to think of him. Go Heels!!

Oatmeal....Yummy!
Henry was not enjoying rice cereal so we decided to give oatmeal a try and I think we have a winner. I don't know if he loves it but he definitely likes it better than the rice cereal. Henry is now eating oatmeal every morning. We now eat breakfast together! We are going to start introducing vegetables this week. We'll see how it goes.
I think he likes the spoon and his bib more than the oatmeal. He wanted to hold the spoon and eat his bib.

Peter Rabbit
Henry sometimes gets fussy when I am trying to change his diaper after waking up first thing in the morning. So, I put rabbit on the changing table for him to play with. Lee created a song that he titled, "Peter Rabbit" that he sings to Henry as he is changing his diaper. Lee would prefer for me not to share this video but it is too cute not to share. I love these boys!

Another New Skill
Henry loves his feet. He used to just grab them with his hands. For you yogis out there, think Happy Baby pose. Now, he is putting his feet in his mouth. Henry is getting more and more flexible.

Henry's New Tub Talent
I had a meeting to night so dad was in charge of bath, bottle, and bedtime. While taking a bath, Henry discovered a new trick...Drinking the dirty water!!!
As Cute As Ever...
When we were home in Charlotte this weekend, Mimi gave me her favorite outfit that Lee wore. She thought it might be too small for him but we were able to get him in it. 29 years later and still looking good!
5 Months Old!
I can't believe Henry is 5 months old! Time is flying by and my baby
is growing up too fast!! How can he be 6 months next month???? I might
have to freeze time next month.
Size- According to my scale, Henry weighs 15 pounds. We will get the official report
next month at his 6 month checkup. He is wearing 3-6 month clothes and some 6
month outfits. Henry is still wearing size 2 diapers.
Development- Henry has developed so much this month. His biggest
achievement is rolling over. He can now roll from his back to his
stomach. We were thrilled with his new ability until he started
rolling in his crib. He would roll over and become angry that he was
on his tummy with no way to roll back on to his back. So, we went
through some rough days where it would take him quite awhile to fall
asleep. Maybe, he will learn to roll in the other direction this
month. He moves all over his crib. You can put him down in one spot
and he will be no where near that spot when you go in to get him. He
is a mover!!!
Just recently, Henry has started sitting for a few seconds by himself.
He wants to sit so badly. If he is in the bouncy seat or reclined then
he tries his hardest to pull himself up into a sitting position. He is
really working his abs.
Henry must be strapped into bouncy seats, swings, etc. because he is
now able to slide himself out. This little man has to be watched
closely because he will try to escape.
He loves his doorway jumper!! He swings himself around in it. He loves
being able to spin. He isn't jumping yet but I am sure he will figure
it out soon enough.
Henry is still chatting us up. He has a very loud voice like his momma.
Personality- Henry is becoming a touchy, feely boy. When seated next
to other babies, he has to touch them. He evens try to eat them
sometimes. One of his favorite things to do is touch faces. He loves
to grab noses, mouths, etc,. Watch out!! He has also been know to suck
on your face.
His attention span is pretty short. He becomes bored and then upset if
he stays in the same activity for too long.
We love his giggles and smiles!!!
Eating- Henry eats about every 2 1/2 - 3 hours, which is about 5-6
times per day. Henry has tried rice cereal but wasn't a fan of it. I'm
not sure if he doesn't like it because it is bland or if he isn't
ready for solids yet. He will be trying solids in the weeks to come.
Sleeping- Henry is still sleeping 11-12 hours at night!! His bedtime
is 7:30 if we are home and he normally wakes up around 7:15. Sometimes
earlier and sometimes later. Naps are still a work in progress. He is
still taking 4 naps. His wake time is about 11/2- 2 hours. Most naps
are about 45 minutes and one is longer like 1 1/2 - 3 hours. I am
still hopeful that next month will bring longer and fewer naps,
please!!!
Likes/dislikes- Henry loves hearing his voice!! He LOVES blowing raspberries!!!
He likes swinging in his doorway jumper. Henry is now able to sit up in the stroller
and I think he enjoys the view more than from his carseat. He still LOVES baths!
He loves his feet and is having fun trying to put them in his mouth. He dislikes
having his diaper changed first thing in the morning when he wakes up because he
is hungry.
Milestones/Firsts- Henry experienced his first Christmas!! He went to
the church nursery for the first time and did great! He rolled over
from his back to his stomach. He sat for a few seconds by himself.
Henry enjoyed (maybe not) his first solid. He completed his first sit
up.

Talking to Lawson
Today, Henry, Lila, Lee, Lawson, and I went on a walk. Henry spent most of the walk talking to Lawson, who was walking next to him. He couldn't take his eyes of Lawson. Lee and I found his conversations with Lawson to be hysterical. Enjoy!
Sitting Up like a Big Boy
For a few weeks, Henry has been trying to sit up. If he is in an inclined position like when he is in the bouncy seat or swing, he always try to pull himself up into the sitting position. This little boy wants to sit up! Today, he started sitting for very brief periods by himself. I feel like he will be sitting up by himself in the very near future.
Friends
Our dear friends, Lauren and Bryson, invited us over for dinner last night. Their son, Brooks, is 7 1/2 months old. Henry and Brooks had a great time playing together. It is so fun to watch babies interacting with each other. Henry and Brooks spent a lot of time touching and exploring each other. I am looking forward to watching their friendship grow!

Roll Tide Roll
Tonight, Alabama plays LSU in the National Championship. Uncle Bradley attended Alabama and just finished this past summer. As a result, we have become fans of "Alabama football". Honey is a huge fan and requested that Henry dress up for gameday. She bought Henry an Alabama onesie to wear today. We will be at home cheering but Uncle Bradley will be cheering from the stadium. He was lucky enough to score a ticket but he did have to pay a pretty high price for it. Roll Tide Roll!!!!

Starting Henry Early
Henry puts his mouth on everything including our drinks. If I am holding a cup then he puts his mouth on the rim of the cup like he is going to drink it. Today, Lee was drinking his Starbucks latte and of course Henry wanted some. He put his mouth right on the rim like he was drinking it. When Lee took the cup away, Henry protested with cries. I guess he is learning early about the finer things in life. He definitely takes after Honey, who has Starbucks daily.
Let's Jump Around
Henry has a doorway jumper that we have recently started putting him in. This past week, it has made him so happy. He is not really jumping in it but he does enjoy swirling around and tap dancing around it. We can't wait till he starts jumping around in it!
New Bait
If you have ever been to our house then you already know Lawson. Most of you know how Lawson greets guests but for those of you that don't let me explain. From the minute that a guest arrives, Lawson will bring the guest her squirrel or anything that she can find to the lucky guest. She will put it on their lap and wait till they throw it. If they succumb then she will bring it right back to them and put it on their lap and wait for them to throw it again. If they don't throw it then she will just pick it up herself and place back on their lap in hope that they will throw it this time. Lee and I find it very annoying and she knows that we will not throw it to her. So, she is thrilled when a new guest arrives for obvious reasons. Now, that Henry is becoming more active, he has become Lawson's bait. When Lawson places the squirrel on Henry's lap, he will gladly drop it to the floor. Lawson has a new best friend!!
